Biking For Baruch 2017

Biking For Baruch 2017

With the coming of warmer weather and hints of summer, we are eagerly anticipating this year’s Biking for Baruch on Saturday, July 15! Rally your friends and family for this day of fun to benefit Baruch Senior Ministries and its communities! Whether to ride, to volunteer, or to donate, all are invited to participate in what we intend to make the best event yet. Biking for Baruch is not a race but a pledged bike ride with the purpose of benefiting from riding, being outdoors, community, and raising funds for Baruch. Biking for Baruch will take place on the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail  between Riverside Park (Grand Rapids) and Sand Lake, a beautiful 25 mile stretch of paved trail. Riders may venture the entire 50 mile round trip (Riverside Park to Sand Lake and back), or they may ride a shorter distance to the turn-around point of their choice, such as Belmont, Rockford, or Cedar Springs.

For those with small children, there are bike paths and playgrounds in Riverside Park that the kids can enjoy.

We encourage those making the 50 mile round trip between Riverside Park and Sand Lake to depart earlier in the morning so that all will arrive back at Riverside Park at approximately the same time for a celebration.

As riders return to the park, we would like to gather together the riders and their families and supporters for a celebration lunch. Food and refreshments will be available as we have the opportunity to hear the stories of the riders and thank all those who rode—be it 5 miles or 50—and their supporters.

Riders are strongly encouraged to ask friends and family to donate per mile they ride or to give a flat pledge to support their efforts and help raise money for Baruch. The pledge money that is raised can be contributed to Baruch to support the programs and services of all of our assisted living communities or to a specific Baruch community of the donor’s choice.

The registration is a minimum $30 donation, but our younger riders (13 and under) wishing to participate have a discounted minimum of $10. We wish to make this a fun family event!
Registration forms and pledge forms are available here. If you are unable to ride but still want to donate and support this event, there is a donor form included with the other forms here.

We will need many volunteers on the day of the event to help with rider check-in before the ride begins, for break stations along the route, and for the end of the ride celebration. If you would like to donate your time as a volunteer, please contact us at mitch.mcneal@baruchsls.org or call (616) 285-0568 for more information.

With your help, we can make the 2017 Biking for Baruch a fun-filled success to benefit the residents of our communities. Spread the word and start preparing for your ride!
